Details that put the finishing touch on any layout. Trackside telephones, also known as signal phones were located mostly in the vicinity of entrance signals and were often placed in small corrugated iron housings. In the steam age, turnouts and signals were set mechanically in signal boxes, and the commands were transmitted by wires that had to be kept permanently taut by means of switches beside the track and in the signal box. Our assortment contains unprotected activators as well as enclosed electrical boxes. Switches can still be seen on some rural branch lines.
