History of the "Nord Express" (Northern Express)
The "Nord Express" was a long-distance train that connected Paris with Russia for over a century and later with Poland, the Baltic countries, and Scandinavia.
Operated since 1896 by the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits (CIWL), initially connecting Paris with St. Petersburg.
It is one of the most iconic luxury trains and, alongside the Orient Express, was a symbol of the railway and the CIWL for decades.
