USMC LAV-25 light armored vehicle. The LAV-25 had a two-person, power-operated turret armed with an M242 25 mm automatic cannon called the Chain Gun, and two 7.62 mm M240 machine guns. While there is room in the rear hull compartment of the LAV-25 for up to six infantrymen, the Marines eventually decided to use the vehicle as a reconnaissance asset instead of an armored personnel carrier. The Marine Corps was supplied with 422 LAV-25s between 1983 and 1987.
